The Hotel U tří pštrosů" **** is located directly in the heart of the historical centre at the famous Charles Bridge and in the immediate vicinity of the other distinguished Prague sights. A beautiful renaissance house from 1597 is situated in place of original middle-age pub, which was frequently visited by Charles IV, the Czech king and Holy Roman Emperor, when he watched the construction works on the gothic stone bridge in the 14 century. Hotel has 18 rooms including 3 suites. Standard room equipment includes TV, satellite, telephone with a direct line, safe, Wi-Fi internet (complimentary) and a mini-bar. Suites have got whirpool bathtubes, complimentary bathrobes and slippers, complimentary tea/coffee making facillities. Nine rooms have got the original wooden renaissance ceilings. Some of the rooms have unforgatable and splendid open view at Charles Bridge. Three small steps connect Charles Bridge directly to this quaint restaurant. The passing shadows of people walking across are vaguely discernible though the coloured, stain-glass windows. Several dishes are prepared with Ostrich meat. There are also a good choice of traditional Czech and internationale dishes and wines as well as fine selection from international wineyards. Service is attentive reflecting guests´ needs. The hotel was delightful. A neighbor of mine in Washington, DC had recommended it. The location was excellent, the staff at the front desk were extremely helpful. I had to do some work while I was there, and the combination of the available computer with Internet connection, and the free wireless access in my room were invaluable. I was not able to dine at the hotel (restaurant was not open on Mon-Tue-Wed), but was told it was the same kitchen across the street at U Patrona. I ate there twice - it was superb. One minor comment - the breakfast was excellent, but the waiter was very grumpy.
